Where Optimum offers a price lock, it holds the base internet rate for the stated period, up to five years on eligible plans. The lock binds Optimum to the rate; it doesn't bind you to a term. It covers only the base service rate, not taxes, fees, surcharges or optional add-ons.
On 1 Gig fiber tiers the Gateway 6E / WiFi 6E router comes at no extra monthly charge. Other tiers get a Smart WiFi router, which may carry a monthly equipment charge depending on plan and market. Most plans need Optimum's gateway to deliver and support the service, so bringing your own equipment is limited; your agent confirms what applies to the plan you pick.
